The 2009 annual programme review meeting
On 15 December 2009, the UNFPA Country Office in Ukraine, jointly with its national implementing partners, held the 2009 annual programme review meeting at Hotel Salute in Kyiv. The UN Resident Coordinator, representatives of UNAIDS, UNDP, UNICEF and WHO, the donor community and beneficiaries of the UNFPA country programme from the different regions took part in the event.
On 8 December 2009, results of the research on family transition in Ukraine implemented by the Ukrainian Centre for Social Reforms and supported by the United Nations Population Fund under project UKR1P31A, were presented at the Institute of Demography and Social Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. This is the first comprehensive research on family as a social institution conducted in Ukraine in the last 40 years.
On 3 December 2009 a round table/presentation meeting took place at the Institute of Gerontology of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, dedicated to the outputs of the joint Institute of Gerontology and UNFPA project “Supporting the Gerontological Information and Counselling Centre”. Representatives of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, Ministry of Labour and Social Policy of Ukraine, Council of Veterans Organizations of Ukraine, Ukrainian Red Cross, public and faith-based organizations providing care and support to older persons took part in the event.
Today on World AIDS Day we extend solidarity to all people who are living with HIV and AIDS so they can live free of stigma and discrimination. And we remember and pay tribute to those who have lost their lives to AIDS.
The workshop had been organized by UNFPA Eastern Europe and Central Asia Regional Office (EECARO) in partnership with the UNFPA Technical Division and the European Parliamentary Forum on Population and Development. The workshop was attended by 50 delegates from fifteen countries of Eastern Europe and Caucasus.
26 October, Kyiv. UNFPA transferred vehicle Skoda Oktavia to Kyiv city center of social services for family, children and youth within the framework of the project “Support to establishing a comprehensive system of social services for young drug users” funded by European Commission and UNFPA. The vehicle will be used to support implementation of prevention programmes at the city level.
