DASECA Director’s visit to Ukraine

On July 2-4^th, 2006 Dr. Alaadin Morsy, UNFPA Director for Europe, Arab States and Central Asia (DASECA), Ms. Sherin Saadallah, UNFPA Programme Specialist and Dr. Peer Sieben, UNFPA Country Director for Ukraine visited Ukraine.
The visit was aimed at monitoring and coordination of UNFPA Programme activities in Ukraine.
The intense three days programme included the working meetings with:

KIEV:

• Youth Advisory Panel (YAP) representatives where the Youth Strategy developed in cooperation with YAP and All-Ukrainian Student Council was presented;
• National project Directors and Programme/project staff followed by the discussion on UN reform and ongoing Programme implementation;
• Ms. Shiyan Chao, The World Bank Senior Health Economist, Human Development, Europe and Central Asia Region
• Mr. Francis O’Donnell, UN RC UNDP RR/UNFPA Representative, in UN House;
• Mr. Olexandr Osaulenko, Head of State Statistics Committee of Ukraine, Minister of Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine;
• Prof. Ella Libanova, Deputy Director of the Institute of Demography and Social Researches, Director of Ukrainian Center of Social Reforms, academic;
• Meeting with Ms. Kristina Salomonsson, SIDA Representative in Ukraine;

ODESSA:

• Dr. Sergiy Kalenchuk, Odessa Oblast Health Administration;
• Prof. Igor Shpak, the main gynecologist of Odessa oblast;
• Dr. Svetlana Posokhova, Director of  Odessa oblast clinic;
• Dr. Lidiya Gumenyuk, Head of Oblast Family Planning Center;
• General Genadyi Podroiko, Deputy Head of Odessa Regional Directorate of Internal Affairs
