UNFPA International Training Workshop on Population Ageing
UNFPA promotes national involvement in the implementation of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing Jointly with the UN Economic Commission for Europe, UNFPA supported the participation of the Ukrainian national focal point on ageing representing the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, in an international training workshop on population ageing and Regional Implementation Strategy of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing (RIS/MIPAA), to which Ukraine is a signatory.
The workshop was held in Chisinau, Moldova, on 13-16 March 2007. Participation in the workshop has helped the UNFPA's national partner Ministry to improve understanding of how to identify and analyze challenges and opportunities related to ageing and demographic changes, better understand the RIS/MIPAA and country commitments towards it, improve knowledge for developing national action plans and ageing-related projects, and provided guidance for drafting country reports on national follow-up to MIPAA/RIS to be submitted to the UN ECE.
