In August 2008, in the framework of Project "Support to establishing a comprehensive system of social services for young drug users", UNFPA is providing national partners (217 Social Services for intravenous drug users) with socio-medical care related equipment (sterile cotton, disinfectants, bandage, sterile syringes, sterile gloves, etc.) in order to support and improve services provided by Social Services for intravenous drug users.
Project "Support to establishing a comprehensive system of social services for young drug users" was initiated in September 2006. It is funded by the European Union (EU) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The project is being implemented by the UNFPA and the State Social Service for Family, Children and Youth (SSSFCY) during the 3 year period. The Project's main objective is to support the SSSFCY in developing and strengthening the national system of Social Services for intravenous drug users (IDUs) capable to promote safe behavior and prevent drug abuse and HIV/STI spread among IDUs, their co-dependants and wider youth population.
