Workshop for the student organizations' representatives on safe behaviour promotion among students was held in Odessa 23-26 May 2009. The event was organized by UNFPA CO in Ukraine under UKR1R51A Project "Increasing Awareness of Young People in Ukraine on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Safe Behaviour". Members of the student organizations' who plan to work in the sphere of health improvement and safe behaviour promotion took part in the workshop.
The project “Research on Demographic Factors of Social Transformations” planned for 1 January 2007 - 31 December 2010 is implemented by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine and “Ukrainian Centre of Social Reforms” (UCSR) NGO. The project is a part of UNFPA Country Programme for Ukraine for 2006-2010.
The presentation of analytical report "Mechanisms for monitoring and reducing gender-based violence and discrimination in Ukraine" was held in business and cultural Center "Ukrainsky Dim", Kyiv 22 May 2009. The presentation was organized by UNFPA Country Office in Ukraine in collaboration with NGO Women's Information Consultative Center within the framework of the UNFPA funded project "Developing national capacity to reduce discrimination and gender-based violence".
The programme is being jointly implemented by United Nations agencies (UNFPA, UNDP and UNICEF) in Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, Kherson regions and Autonomous Republic of Crimea during October 2006 – June 2009. A final review conference of the programme “Reduction of HIV/STI Spread among Youth in Selected Regions of Ukraine”, was conducted on May 14-15 in Mykolaiv.
15 May 2009. New-York – Kyiv – Today on the occasion of International Day of Families UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon stressed on such important issues as violence against women, universal access to education and valuable contribution of mothers in raising the next generation.
The International Conference "International standards for gender policies" was held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan during 13-14 April 2009, where Ukrainian delegation has participated. The Conference was organized by the Turkmen National Institute of Democracy and human rights in collaboration with UNFPA and was devoted to the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the CEDAW and 15th anniversary of the ICPD.
