Regional knowledge-exchange Forum "Prevention of HIV/STI in the Uniformed Services" between Moldova and Ukraine (Chisinau, Moldova, 1-3.10.2007)
The Regional knowledge-exchange Forum was facilitated by Dr. Borys Vornyk, UNFPA Ukraine Assistant Representative and Dr. Silvia Stratulat, Moldova National AIDS Center. Mr. Vitalie Vremis, UNDP Moldova Portfolio Manager, Ms. Viorica Rotaru, UNDP Moldova Programme Officer, and Mr. Rosian Vasiloy, Representative of the National Coordinator from Border Guard Service of Moldova have opened the Forum and presented the results of the project on HIV/STI prevention among Uniformed Services of Moldova.
Newly elected members of the UNFPA Youth Advisory Panel (YAP) met at UNFPA Country Office, Kyiv, on 28 September, 2007. The main goal of YAP is to provide assistance to UNFPA in coordination of activities targeting young people and develop recommendations regarding future activities.
In August 2007, in the framework of the Joint UNDP/UNFPA Programme "HIV/STI Prevention in the Uniformed Services of Ukraine", UNFPA is going to continue to provide national partners (Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Defense, Interior Forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and State Border Guards Service of Ukraine) with medical equipment and supplies (HIV express tests, STI tests, sterile syringes, sterile gloves, laboratory equipment, etc.) in order to support and improve services provided by the medical departments of partner-ministries to their personnel with regard to HIV/STI issues.
In July 2007, in the framework of the Joint UNDP/UNFPA Programme "HIV/STI Prevention in the Uniformed Services of Ukraine", UNFPA provided national partners (Ministry of Internal Affairs and Ministry of Defense) with medical equipment and supplies (rapid tests, sterile syringes and gloves) in order to support and improve services provided by the medical departments of partner-ministries to their personnel with regard to HIV/STI issues.
In July 2007, in the framework of the Joint UNDP/UNFPA Programme "HIV/STI Prevention in the Uniformed Services of Ukraine", UNFPA organized 4 regional workshops on HIV/STI prevention for personnel of the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
On 11 July 2007 UNFPA Ukraine organized a press conference at the UNIAN press centre on the occasion of the World Population Day. The press conference was attended by representatives of all major mass media of the national coverage, including 4 national TV channels. 24 journalists were representing 18 media at the event.
