UNFPA provides funding and technical support to a scientific research of mortality in the working age population implemented by the Institute of Demography and Social Research. The research will be concluded with an analytical report containing recommendations on how to extend longevity in the working age and their practical use by policy makers, executive authorities and development agencies.

Ukraine represented at the 40th session of the UN Commission on Population and Development (14-05-2007, 17:02)
On 9-13 April UNFPA has hosted in New York the 40th session of the UN Commission on Population and Development. The delegation from Ukraine was chaired by Ms. Natalia Vlasenko, Deputy Chair of the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine. The session was mainly devoted to the changing age structures of the world's population and its consequences regarding development.
All-Ukrainian Student Forum on healthy life style promotion among students (11-05-2007, 13:13)
On 20-21 April The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine with participation of UNFPA held the All-Ukrainian Student Forum "The development of student self-government is an important factor to ensure the quality of higher education" at the National Aviation University. During the plenary panel Volodymyr Shemaev, UNFPA staff member, spoke out the joint resolution of the Section "Healthy Life style Promotion among the Student Youth".
UNFPA International Training Workshop on Population Ageing (11-05-2007, 13:06)
On 13-16 March UNFPA has hosted an International Training Workshop on Population Ageing and Regional Implementation Strategy of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing in Chisinau, Moldova. for UNFPA's national partners to improve understanding of how to identify and analyze challenges and opportunities related to ageing and demographic changes, better understand the RIS/MIPAA and country commitments towards it.
Upcoming Round Table within the framework of the Programme funded by EC and UNFPA "Support to establishing a comprehensive system of social services for young drug users" (10-05-2007, 16:16)
In the framework of the Programme funded by EC and UNFPA "Support to establishing a comprehensive system of social services for young drug users" a round table meeting is planned to be held on May 25, 2007 in the building of Ministry of Family, Youth and Sports of Ukraine. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss field standards of providing social services to the users of psychoactive substances, including injecting drug users, and their close environment.
Programme funded by EC and UNFPA in Ukraine "Support to establishing a comprehensive system of social services for young drug users" takes part in the exhibition of EU-funded projects (04-05-2007, 08:43)
On April 25-26, the Kyiv House of Cinema hosted an exhibition of EU-funded projects in Ukraine where UNFPA has presented the Programme "Support to establishing a comprehensive system of social services for young drug users". This exhibition was the last in the series of three informational events that took place this April. The other two exhibitions were held in Donetsk at the Donetsk National University on April 12-13 and in Lviv at the House of Scientists on April 19-20. The exhibitions were organized within the initiative supported by the Delegation of the European Commission to Ukraine and Belarus. These events were aimed at raising public awareness of EU-Ukraine relations and assistance programs for Ukrainian citizens.
